2012 Studio Of The Year
Mile High Media has been in the adult content business for over 20 years, making the studio a seasoned player in the adult content industry. They entered the market as a Canadian licensee of mainly American videos, but soon became a producer of some of the highest quality movies available. In 2003, Mile High launched its Doghouse Digital brand, a brand that has become synonymous for creating niche-driven adult content, followed in 2008 by the creation of Sweetheart Video, a lesbian line they created with director Nica Noelle.
In 2009, Mile High's dedication to quality content continued with its couples-focused line, Sweet Sinner, and Reality Junkies, its reality-focused line of movies. Their library current boasts over 1,500 titles, with new features released each month, all meeting the level of quality that Mile High Media is known for worldwide.
2012 Lifetime Achievement Award
Paul Thomas is as well known for his work behind the cameras as he is for his steamy on-screen scenes. Born on April 17, 1951, in Winnetka, Illinois, he was the son of wealthy parents and the nephew of pastry queen Sara Lee. He attended the University of Wisconsin when he got the acting bug and moved to NYC. His good looks got him roles in several Broadway productions including the lead in 'Hair' and the role of Peter in the film version of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in 1973.
In 1988, Paul began his career as director, eventually becoming one of the most notable porn directors in the business. His films are plot-driven, obviously influenced by his years spent working in mainstream entertainment. Paul has gone on to win numerous industry awards for his work, including multiple AVN Best Director honors. He is a member of both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame.
